How Matching Works
What our compatibility ranking uses, and the data it never touches.
Last updated July 4, 2026
1. The short version
We match on what matters for care — practical things like skills, schedule, and specialties. We never use protected details about who someone is. And a match is a suggestion, not a verdict.
2. What our ranking uses
- Service level and skills (companion, HHA, CNA, CMA, nurse).
- Schedule and availability — including overnight, daytime, and recurring needs.
- Specialties such as dementia experience, mobility support, and medication comfort.
- Languages spoken.
- Distance, using your typed city and state — or, if the optional nearby-matching feature is on in your build and you granted the location permission, a deliberately blurred neighborhood point (roughly 1 km, never your address). Never precise location.
- Your own activity and stated preferences as you use the app (you can turn this personalization off in Settings).
3. What our ranking never uses
Our scorer never reads protected-class information to rank or suggest anyone:
- Race, religion, or national origin.
- Sex or gender.
- Age or date of birth (we don't even collect a date of birth).
- Disability.
- ZIP code.
4. The daily match and the reasons
Once a day, we surface your most compatible person and show you the reasons you fit — for example, “same overnight schedule” or “dementia-trained.” We show you the reasons, never a raw score or a number, and never a ranking based on who you are.
5. Likes and mutual matches
You can like, super like, or skip the people you see. When you and another person both like each other, it's a match — and you can start a conversation. You always decide who to message.
6. Your control
You can turn off personalized matching at any time. Doing so stops us both from using your preference signals and from recording new ones. Either way, the decision about who to talk to and trust is always yours.
7. Our fairness commitments
- No protected-class data is ever an input to the ranking.
- New caregivers may get a temporary visibility boost so they aren't invisible on day one — this is based on being new (recency), never on who someone is.
- We don't sell placement, and we don't rank people by identity.
- The paid membership never changes anyone's compatibility score or safety signals — it unlocks features, not better-ranked people.
8. A suggestion, not a verdict
Compatibility is a starting point that helps you find people worth meeting. It is not a guarantee, an endorsement, or an assurance of anyone's suitability or safety, and it is not a substitute for your own judgment and diligence. We do not guarantee any match, response, or outcome.
