For caregivers
Choosing a caregiver job app: eight questions to ask
Before you give any app your time, ask what it costs you, who sets your rate, who pays you and how families find you. Here are the questions worth asking, and Kalvri's honest answer to each, including what it doesn't do yet.

| Question | Kalvri | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Does it cost anything to join? | No. Applying and joining are free. | Know what joining costs before you spend time on a profile. |
| Will I be asked to pay to be seen? | No. There are no paid upgrades for caregivers, and caregivers never pay Kalvri anything. Paying could never move you up. | You should know whether money can change who families see first. |
| Who sets my rate? | You do, and you agree it with each family. | Your rate is your income. Know whether it's yours to set. |
| Who pays me, and does anyone take a cut? | The family pays you directly. Kalvri never touches the money and takes no cut. | A commission or fee comes out of what you earn. |
| How do families find me? | Families whose hours, care needs, distance and budget you meet see you ranked by fit, with the reason for each. Families who need work you've ruled out aren't shown to you. | Applying to post after post takes hours you aren't paid for. |
| Is a background check required, and who pays for it? | Kalvri runs none. If a family asks, you can order one on yourself from Checkr, paid to Checkr, or decline. | Checks cost money, and you should know who pays before you start. |
| What kinds of work are there? | Senior care, home health aide and CNA work, nursing, nannies, babysitting and newborn care. | Make sure the work you do is the work families look for there. |
| Can I use it today? | Not yet. Kalvri is opening city by city, on iPhone only. Caregivers can apply now. | An app is only useful once it's open where you live. |
